Legal
Terms of Use
These Terms explain how you may use the PixlKey public site and the PixlKey application. In plain language: use the service responsibly, process only work you have the rights to, and don’t harm the platform or its users.
1) Acceptance of these Terms
By accessing the PixlKey site or using the PixlKey app (together, the “Service”), you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
2) Who can use PixlKey
- You must be legally able to enter a binding agreement where you live.
- If you are using PixlKey on behalf of an organisation, you confirm you are authorised to do so.
- You are responsible for ensuring your use complies with applicable laws.
3) The public site vs the application
The public PixlKey site provides product information, documentation, and policies. The PixlKey app is the processing workspace where you upload files and generate outputs.
4) Your responsibilities (the important bit)
You agree to use PixlKey in a way that is lawful, respectful, and safe for others. PixlKey is built to create verification-ready artefacts — it is not a tool for laundering stolen work.
- Rights: You will only upload/process images you own or have permission/licence to use.
- Accuracy: Any information you provide (creator name, title, licence notes, etc.) must not be knowingly false.
- Security: You will take reasonable steps to protect your account and credentials.
5) Prohibited use
- Uploading content that infringes copyright, trade-mark, or other rights.
- Harassing, doxxing, or attempting to identify or harm other users.
- Attempting to bypass security, rate limits, access controls, or authentication.
- Reverse engineering, scraping, or automated use that degrades or threatens the Service.
- Uploading malware, hostile code, or files designed to crash or exploit the system.
- Using the Service for unlawful, fraudulent, or deceptive purposes.
6) Your content and ownership
You retain ownership of your original work. PixlKey does not claim ownership of your artwork simply because you process it. You are responsible for ensuring you have the rights required to upload and process it.
7) Outputs, metadata, and licences
PixlKey may generate derivative outputs (for example: watermarked versions, previews, metadata-embedded files, identifiers, and certificate-style artefacts). Those outputs are created based on your inputs and settings.
PixlKey does not provide legal advice and does not guarantee that any particular licence text is sufficient for your situation. If you need certainty, consult qualified counsel.
8) Accounts and access
- You are responsible for activity under your account.
- You must not share credentials in a way that puts your account or others at risk.
- We may suspend or terminate access to protect the Service, users, or legal compliance.
9) Availability and changes
The Service may evolve over time. Features may be added, changed, or removed. We may also update these Terms; continued use after an update means you accept the revised Terms.
10) Disclaimers
The Service is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. PixlKey aims to generate consistent artefacts and identifiers, but cannot guarantee that outputs will meet every legal, technical, or evidentiary requirement in every jurisdiction or dispute.
11) Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, PixlKey will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, revenue, data, goodwill, or business opportunities arising from use of the Service.
12) Indemnity
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless PixlKey from claims, liabilities, damages, and expenses arising from your content, your use of the Service, or your violation of these Terms or applicable law.
13) Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Ontario and the applicable federal laws of Canada, without regard to conflict of law principles.
